A 25-year-old Nigerian man, Bosun Osagie, has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison in the United Kingdom for hacking a woman’s social media accounts, selling her intimate photos and blackmailing her.
Osagie was jailed on Monday after pleading guilty to computer hacking and blackmail, according to a statement issued by Merseyside Police on Tuesday.
The police said Osagie hacked the woman’s Snapchat and X accounts in Wirral and used her photographs to create fake social media profiles.
The fake accounts were then used to advertise the woman as a sex worker, while her images were allegedly sold online.
“It was further reported that the fake accounts were used to solicit her as a sex worker and her images were being sold online and she was subsequently blackmailed,” the statement said.
Osagie, who resides on Hartslock Drive in Bexley, London, was arrested and charged after the victim reported the incident in February 2023.
Following extensive investigations, he later admitted the offences in court.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a 10-year restraining order prohibiting Osagie from contacting the victim.
