Fatai Okoya, son of billionaire industrialist Razaq Akanni Okoya, has made an emotional public appeal to his father for forgiveness and reconciliation after more than four decades of separation.
In an open letter addressed to his father, Fatai expressed regret over their estrangement, saying he wanted to rebuild their relationship and recover the years they had lost apart.
He said he had made efforts over the years to reach out and make peace, adding that the pain of their separation had weighed heavily on him.
“Dad, I am truly sorry. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me,” he wrote.
Fatai acknowledged that the past could not be changed but appealed for an opportunity to begin a new chapter in their relationship.
He said his intention was not to erase past disagreements overnight but to create an opportunity for healing, forgiveness and renewed closeness between father and son.
“I am not asking for the past to be erased overnight. I am simply asking for a chance — for a chance to heal, to make peace, and to rebuild the bond between a father and his child,” he said.
He also appealed to his father to allow love to overcome the pain of their long separation, expressing a desire to reconnect while they still had time.
“I love you, Dad. I miss you, and deep down, I still long for the blessing of having my father back in my life,” he wrote.
In the letter, Fatai prayed for God to heal their wounds and give them the grace to reunite, reiterating his willingness to approach the reconciliation with humility and sincerity.
“Dad, I am truly sorry. My heart is open, my hands are extended, and my hope for reconciliation remains alive. Please, let us begin again,” he added.
The appeal has drawn attention to the personal cost of prolonged family estrangement, with Fatai expressing hope that the relationship could be restored despite the decades apart.
