Kaduna State says it is expecting a massive turnout of APC supporters from across the country as it prepares to host President Bola Tinubu for the party’s 2027 presidential campaign flag-off on Saturday.
Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, who chairs the Local Organising Committee (LOC), gave the assurance on Wednesday after inspecting preparations at the Kaduna Township Stadium, the venue of the rally.
Balarabe said facilities at the stadium were largely ready, with the holding area, toilets and pavilions completed, leaving only the marking of designated spaces for states.
“I’m comfortable with what has been done so far; we have the holding area, the conveniences are ready, the pavilions are ready. What remains is the markings for the different states,” she said.
She said the committee had held extensive consultations with security officials at the state and federal levels to ensure adequate protection before, during and after the rally.
According to her, attendees will be screened before entering the stadium, assuring party members and supporters of their safety.
The deputy governor expressed confidence that Kaduna would attract a large crowd, describing the North-West as a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said mobilisation was ongoing, adding that hotels and service apartments across Kaduna metropolis had been fully booked.
Maiyaki described the decision to host the campaign flag-off as an honour for the state, saying residents were eager to welcome Tinubu and demonstrate their support for the president and the APC.
He said Kaduna had benefited from the APC-led Federal Government through infrastructure projects and federal appointments for indigenes of the state.
Among the projects he cited were the conversion of the Federal College of Education, Zaria, into a university, the recent conversion of Kaduna Polytechnic into a Federal University of Technology, the 122-kilometre Mando-Birnin Gwari Road and the proposed Kaduna Light Rail Project.
