The Flamingos of Nigeria have reached the semi-finals of the ongoing FIFA Under-17 Women’s World cup in Morocco after defeating Venezuela 1-0 on Sunday night.
The Nigerian girls snatched the victory in the 89th minute when Azeezatt Oduntan converted her spot kick to give Nigeria the lead.
The quarter-final clash had both teams defending properly but the Venezuela goalkeeper had more credits for outstanding saves.
The deadlock was broken in the 88th minute when Oluebube Umejiaku won a penalty for the flamingos, and after VAR review, Azeezat Oduntan made no mistake in converting it.
With the victory, Flamingos will now meet Brazil in the semi-finals. Brazil had earlier secured a 2-1 win over China in their quarter-final encounter.
