Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel has died after he suffered a serious injury in a collision during a Spanish second-division match.
De Miguel collided with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono and suffered head and chest injuries in the encounter on Monday.
Owono was sent off for the heavy collision, with the referee abandoning the match at 2-2.

De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest following the collision but was resuscitated by medical personnel in the ambulance.
According to reports in Spain, De Miguel’s condition was described as “stable but serious” on Monday before his health deteriorated on Tuesday morning.
Announcing the player’s death in a statement on Tuesday, Tenerife said: “Racked with pain, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe that this is true, from CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic passing of Jesus de Miguel Alameda.
“There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can alleviate this feeling overflowing with sadness.

“The family of Jesus de Miguel thanks each and every one of the expressions of support received, and likewise requests, from the heart, the utmost respect for their privacy in these terrible moments.”
The Spanish soccer federation postponed two Copa del Rey matches and one Copa de la Reina matches to be held on Tuesday.
Spanish police have since opened an investigation into possible involuntary manslaughter.
Judicial authorities in the Canary Islands said the opening of an investigation into the death of De Miguel was a routine procedure because any death deemed non-natural under Spanish law automatically triggers a judicial inquiry.
De Miguel was born in Madrid, and he started his career at Leganés before going on to play for eight clubs in Spain.
He joined Tenerife on a three-year deal in 2025 and scored 11 goals in 29 appearances for the side.
De Miguel is survived by his daughter, Carla de Miguel Fernandez, who was born in 2025.
