The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that the second phase of its ongoing recruitment exercise will take place from September 14 to 21, 2025.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, the service’s spokesman, Abdullahi Maiwada, said the process will be conducted through an online Computer-Based Test (CBT), reflecting the service’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and accessibility.
Maiwada explained that the NCS had received 573,523 applications following its December 27, 2024 advertisement for 3,927 vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres.
After thorough screening, 286,697 candidates were shortlisted for the CBT.
He noted that candidates can take the test from any location with reliable internet access but must use a laptop or desktop computer equipped with a webcam. The platform is not mobile-enabled.
“A facial verification process will be conducted at login.
“Candidates are advised to maintain a neat appearance to avoid recognition issues,” he said, adding that the system is sensitive to noise, body movements, and window-switching, which could trigger automatic logout or disqualification.
To ensure smooth participation, the service will conduct a mandatory pre-test exercise two days before the main CBT.
Shortlisted applicants will receive two separate links—one for the trial session and another for the examination.
Maiwada further revealed that only applicants for the Superintendent Cadre will sit for an additional CBT in the next phase of the recruitment.
He emphasised that the exercise is strictly merit-based, with successful candidates to be notified through official NCS communication channels.
“The service will not demand any form of payment nor conduct recruitment activities via social media,” he stressed, urging applicants to rely solely on verified NCS platforms for authentic updates.
He added that the recruitment drive aligns with the agency’s statutory mandate to boost manpower capacity and improve service delivery.
