Lagos PDP Chairman, Philip Aivoji
The abducted chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Philip Aivoji, has regained freedom from his abductors.
The Lagos PDP chairman’s release was confirmed via a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hakeem Amode, on Monday, January 29, 2024.
Amode disclosed that Aivoji was released on Sunday after spending four days with the kidnappers.
Amode said: “Lagos State PDP Chairman released by the kidnappers.
“Hon. Philip Olabode Aivoji is free at last after four days in the kidnappers’ den.
“We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers most importantly because God’s mercies was visible all the way.

“Thank you all for your concerns and prayers.”
Aivoji was kidnapped at the Ogere area on the Ibadan-Lagos expressway in Ogun State on Thursday, January 25.
He was returning from the PDP South-West zonal meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, when he was abducted by gunmen on the highway.
The abductors had earlier contacted his family, demanding a N200 million ransom.
Amode, however, said he could not confirm whether or not there was any payment before the party chairman’s release.
He thanked security agencies and government officials who, he said, facilitated Aivoji’s freedom.
