The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the release of five Nigerian Law School students who were abducted while traveling to the Yola campus in Adamawa State.
The students were kidnapped on July 26, 2025, along the troubled Wukari-Benue axis while returning from Onitsha, Anambra State, after their court externship break. One of the six abducted students had earlier been released, leaving five in captivity.
The abductors reportedly demanded a ₦100 million ransom for their release.
However, in a statement issued on Friday, August 1, the police announced that the remaining students had regained their freedom and were reunited with their families.
Police spokesperson, SP Edet Udeme, did not disclose whether a ransom was paid but assured the public of the force’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property.
“The students were rescued and are now safely back with their families,” she said.
