A police officer who was kidnapped by armed bandits in Niger State has escaped from captivity and safely reunited with his family in Kaduna, authorities confirmed on Sunday.
ASP Steven Gabriel, attached to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Annex in Kaduna, was abducted on May 28 during an investigative assignment in Sarkin-Pawa, Munya Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to reports, Gabriel made a daring escape from his captors around midnight on June 20 and successfully found his way to safety.
His return has been met with relief and celebration by his family and colleagues, while security agencies continue efforts to track down the criminal gang responsible for the abduction.
