Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Monday swore in three new judges, charging them to uphold justice, fairness, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The new appointees are: Mr. Julius Ojikutu, former Chief Registrar of the Ogun High Court, Abeokuta; Mrs. Adejumoke Adewole, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development; and Mrs. Oluyemisi Adebo, former Secretary of the Ogun Judicial Service Commission.
Speaking at the ceremony in Abeokuta, the governor described judges as “the hope for justice, the shield against oppression, and the assurance that right will always prevail over might,” urging the appointees to base their judgments on the fear of God, their conscience, and the Nigerian Constitution.
“Democracy thrives because judges of conscience stand firm in defending the ethos of democratic institutions without fear or favour,” Abiodun said, warning them to resist pressure and place the interest of justice and the people above personal gain.
He stressed that the judiciary must remain independent while working harmoniously with other arms of government, adding that his administration would continue to respect court rulings, provide resources, and improve judicial processes for swift and fair justice delivery.
“I stand here today as a grateful beneficiary of the courage, impartiality, and fidelity to the rule of law shown by our courts,” the governor noted.
