A man identified as Emmanuel Otokpa has been arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Gwagwalada, Abuja, over allegations of defrauding a customer after collecting payment for honey he failed to deliver.

Otokpa, who has no fixed address, was charged with two counts of criminal breach of trust and cheating after allegedly collecting N182,000 from Mr. Ifeanyi Nwankwo for the supply of 182 bottles of Jerusalem honey, including transport costs.

According to the prosecutor, Abdullahi Tanko, the complaint was lodged on June 28, 2024, at the Gwagwalada police station.

He said the defendant instead converted the money to personal use without fulfilling the order.

The alleged offenses violate Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

Otokpa pleaded not guilty, and Magistrate Olatunji Oladunmoye granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety, who must provide a verifiable residential address.

The matter was adjourned to July 22 for hearing.
