Access Holdings Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, and United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc led trading on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) during the week, exchanging 1.02 billion shares worth N50.52 billion.
The equities were traded in 29,382 deals, accounting for 37.56 per cent of total equity turnover volume and 31.92 per cent of transaction value.
The NGX weekly trading report showed that investors exchanged 2.715 billion shares valued at N158.280 billion in 209,986 deals during the week.
This compared with 3.166 billion shares worth N155.023 billion traded in 206,662 deals in the preceding week.
Transaction value rose by 2.08 per cent, in spite of a decline in the volume of shares traded.
The Financial Services Industry led trading by volume, with 2.005 billion shares valued at N82.924 billion exchanged in 94,483 deals.
The sector accounted for 73.84 per cent of total equity turnover volume and 52.39 per cent of transaction value.
The Consumer Goods Industry followed with 152.345 million shares worth N11.425 billion traded in 20,926 deals.
The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry ranked third, recording 117.296 million shares valued at N15.256 billion in 22,556 deals.
Meanwhile, the NGX All-Share Index and market capitalisation depreciated by 0.97 per cent to close the week at 248,363.55 points and N161.260 trillion, respectively.
All other indices also closed lower, except the NGX Industrial Goods Index, which appreciated by 0.02 per cent.
Market breadth weakened as 24 equities appreciated in price, compared with 44 in the preceding week.

Conversely, 54 equities depreciated, up from 37 previously, while 68 remained unchanged, compared with 65 in the preceding week.
Livestock Feeds, Tripple Gee, Guinea Insurance, Learn Africa, and Multi-Trex Integrated Foods emerged as the five best-performing equities.
Their share prices appreciated by N4.25, 76 kobo, 21 kobo, N1.50 and six kobo, respectively.
On the other hand, Critical Minerals Financing Corp., ABC Transport, Japaul Gold, Fidelity Bank, and Aradel Holdings led the losers’ chart.
Their share prices declined by 91 kobo, N1.35, 32 kobo, N2.50, and N153, respectively.
In other developments, the Federal Government Savings Bonds issued in September 2026 were listed on the NGX on Wednesday.
The exchange also listed an additional 6.31 billion ordinary shares of 50 kobo each belonging to Guinea Insurance Plc on its Daily Official List on the same day.
Additionally, the NGX lifted the suspension on trading in Multi-Trex Integrated Foods shares on Wednesday.
