The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dissolved its Kano State Executive Committee and replaced it with a caretaker committee as part of efforts to reposition the party ahead of the next phase of its activities in the state.
The announcement was made on Monday in Kano by the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North-West), Naja’atu Muhammad, during a press briefing.
She said the decision was taken in accordance with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act, stressing that the move was aimed at restoring order and ensuring continuity in the party’s operations.
According to Naja’atu, the caretaker committee will oversee the affairs of the party until a new state executive is elected.
She charged members of the committee to provide transparent and inclusive leadership, urging them to prioritise unity and reconciliation among party members.
On the lingering dispute over the party’s governorship ticket, Naja’atu disclosed that the national leadership had set up a committee to resolve the contest involving Alhaji Ibrahim Little and Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil.
She expressed confidence that the committee would conclude its work soon, paving the way for the announcement of the party’s governorship candidate in line with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Naja’atu also criticised Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, alleging that he had publicly expressed support for President Bola Tinubu instead of the ADC’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
