ADC’s Ogigi claims early win, rejects FCT result

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the 2026 Abuja Municipal Area Council election, Moses Paul Ogigi, has rejected the outcome of the poll, claiming he had already secured victory by 3pm on election day.

Ogigi, popularly known as Dr Mo, spoke after the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress as the winner.

Speaking on Arise News, Ogigi alleged irregularities during the election, including vote buying, harassment of party members, curfew imposition and what he described as manipulation of results.

He said he entered the race with confidence in the democratic process and expected improvements, particularly following changes in INEC’s leadership.

According to him, early figures suggested he was leading across polling units before events later altered the outcome.

Ogigi maintained that he rejects the official results, describing the election as a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey — not for reflecting voters’ will, but for exposing challenges that hinder credible elections.

He also claimed the exercise witnessed an unusually high level of vote buying and intimidation of ADC supporters at several polling centres.
