Adeleke lifts curfew on Osun communities

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has lifted the curfew imposed on Ifon and Ilobu communities in the state, sequel to peace and orderliness that has returned to the warring communities.

Adeleke said the curfew would be lifted on Wednesday, December 20, to enable the residents go about their normal activities without any restriction of any kind in the communities.

This was made known in a statement issued by the Osun State Commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on Tuesday.

Adeleke had imposed a 24-hour curfew on the two communities over communal clashes on land disputes.

The commissioner, who announced the curfew on October 5,  said it became imperative to prevent further breakdown of law and order in the affected communities.

Adeleke, however, said the state government truly acknowledged that lasting peace and stability seemed to have been restored across the warring communities.

He noted that a 24-hour surveillance would be strictly observed and maintained by the joint security tasked force in the communities.

”We use this opportunity to thank and appreciate all those who contributed to the restoration  of peace and order during and after the unfortunate community skirmishes,” the governor added.

Governor Adeleke stated that the Osun State Government was satisfied and convinced that peace has returned to the communities.
