Former presidential spokesman Femi Adesina says ex-President Muhammadu Buhari could have long been dead if he had used hospitals in Nigeria.
Buhari died in a hospital in London, the United Kingdom, on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The former president passed away at the age of 82.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, Adesina said Buhari had always done his medicals in London, even before he became president.
He said: “Buhari always had his medical in London, even when he was not in office. So, it’s not about the time he was president alone. And then, you have to be alive first to do certain things.

“If he had said, ‘I will do my medical in Nigeria just as a show-off or something,’ he could have long been dead.”
The former presidential aide also described Buhari as not merely his boss but a friend.
Adesina added: “During my eight years of service, I never viewed him as a boss, nor did he see me as a subordinate. We were friends.
“He was a very pleasant, decent, and straightforward man. He was a unique person. I have never seen a man more disciplined than the late Muhammadu Buhari.”
