ADUSTECH strengthens campus infrastructure, improves student welfare

The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Kano State, has renovated its student hostels and upgraded its healthcare facility as part of efforts to enhance academic standards and campus life.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tukur Musa Yakasai, disclosed this on Wednesday during an inspection tour of key facilities across the university.

Prof. Yakasai said the renovation of the female hostels was completed last year through a direct labour approach coordinated by the Dean of Students’ Affairs, a strategy that was also adopted for the ongoing renovation of the male hostels.

According to him, the hostel rehabilitation was funded through modest contributions from students, adding that the university management ensured prudent use of the funds to achieve noticeable improvements in students’ living conditions.

The vice-chancellor also revealed that the university’s health centre has been upgraded to the status of a General Hospital to provide enhanced medical services.

He said a renowned medical consultant has been appointed to manage the facility, with the aim of delivering efficient healthcare services to students, staff and the wider university community.

Prof. Yakasai noted that ADUSTECH’s science- and technology-based programmes remain among the most affordable in the country, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to accessible and quality education.

On sports development, he said the university has recorded significant achievements, noting that ADUSTECH staff won medals at the Nigerian University Staff Games, while students also emerged medal winners at the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) competitions.

“These achievements have positively projected the image and integrity of the university,” he said.

Earlier, the Pro-Chancellor, Justice Abdu Aboki (Rtd), who led the inspection team, commended the university management and the Deanery Department for adopting the direct labour approach in renovating the hostels.

Justice Aboki said the upgraded facilities would provide a more conducive learning environment and support the attainment of high academic standards.

The inspection tour covered the renovated male and female hostels, the upgraded healthcare facility and other key infrastructure within the university.
