Afriland Properties Plc has confirmed a fire incident at its headquarters, Afriland Towers, located on Broad Street, Lagos Island, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

In a statement issued by Afriland Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Chukwunonso Okafor, the firm said the fire broke out in the inverter room and spread smoke through the building, including the emergency exits, even as evacuation procedures were followed.

The company noted that emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, Lagos State Fire Service, and other rescue agencies, were quickly deployed to the scene.

According to Afriland, the responders’ intervention helped contain the fire and limit further damage.

“We are deeply saddened by this incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those impacted, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies to their families and loved ones,” the company said.

The firm added that an investigation into the cause of the fire has commenced and pledged to work closely with relevant authorities while providing updates as more details emerge.

It also lauded the efforts of emergency workers, first aid providers, and members of the public who assisted during the incident.
