Again, 3 senators dump PDP for APC

Senators Amos Yohanna (Adamawa North), Abbas Iya (Adamawa Central), and Ikra Bilbis (Zamfara North) have defected from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senators announced their defection via separate letters read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio at plenary in Abuja on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The lawmakers attributed their defection to the internal crisis bewildering the PDP.

In his remarks, Akpabio said the President Bola Tinubu administration, before assumption of office, met a challenged economy, saying the president had steadily brought reforms.

He said the decisions on oil subsidy removal and harmonisation of exchange rate for the country have since been bringing in fund into the consolidated revenue.

The Senate President stated that state governments were meeting their obligations because they were getting their funds in line with the constitution, adding that the sub-nationals were doing well.

According to him, APC is putting Nigeria on a trajectory of growth, total reformation and rebirth.
