The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026.
The LIRS Executive Chairman, Ayodele Subair, announced this in a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, on Saturday, April 11.
Subair said the extension followed an earlier shift to April 14, citing increased traffic on the electronic tax platform as taxpayers rushed to comply.
Subair explained that the decision was aimed at giving taxpayers additional time to complete their filings successfully.
“The extension responds to overwhelming compliance and is intended to enhance convenience while ensuring accuracy and integrity of submissions,” the LIRS boss stated.

Subair reiterated that filing annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation, urging taxpayers to take advantage of what he described as a final extension.
He emphasised that all returns must be filed electronically through the designated eTax platform.
Subair reaffirmed that the online platform remains the only approved channel for submissions.
Subair urged taxpayers requiring assistance to visit any LIRS office or contact its official communication channels.
