Businesswoman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Felak Concept Group, Aisha Achimugu, has been recognised with the Trailblazer Award by Daily Times Nigeria as part of the newspaper’s centenary celebrations.
Achimugu received the honour last Thursday at an award ceremony held at the ThisDay Dome in Abuja.
The award was conferred by the Board, Management and Organising Committee of the Daily Times Nigeria @100 celebration through the Times Heroes Award Council.
The organisers said the awards were designed to recognise individuals and institutions whose achievements reflect innovation, excellence, visionary leadership and contributions to Nigeria’s development.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Achimugu, who is also involved in philanthropy, dedicated the award to Nigerians who have supported her journey and to her children.
“On behalf of myself and my children, I dedicate this award to all Nigerians that have stood by me all through. This award meant a lot to me and I am glad I am part of Daily Times awardees,” she said.
The organisers also announced that recipients of the DTN@100 Times Heroes Awards would be documented in the forthcoming Nigerian Grand Book, a 700-page commemorative publication chronicling significant milestones, personalities and institutions that have shaped Nigeria.
According to the organisers, the publication is intended to preserve an enduring record of contributions to the nation while presenting Nigeria’s achievements to an international audience.
The Nigerian Grand Book is part of the newspaper’s centenary project and draws on material from the Daily Times’ century-old archives. The project, they said, has been developed over 15 years.
The contributions and accomplishments of the award recipients are expected to be permanently captured in the publication as part of efforts to preserve Nigeria’s institutional and national history for future generations.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, wrote the foreword to the publication. The organisers said his involvement reflected the national significance attached to the project and its objective of documenting important achievements and developmental milestones.
Achimugu’s award places her among Nigerians recognised during the Daily Times centenary for their contributions to national development, particularly through business leadership and philanthropy.
The Daily Times Nigeria @100 celebration marks a century of the newspaper’s existence and its role in Nigerian journalism and national development.
