Alex Ekwueme University matriculates 5,097 students

No fewer than 5,097 students of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike in Ebonyi State have taken the matriculation oath for the 2022/2023 academic session.

Speaking at the event held on Friday, August 25, 2023, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunday Elom, warned the students against violating the rules and regulations of the institution to avoid sanctions.

“Alex Ekwueme Federal University has zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice, bullying, campus prostitution, and improper dressing,” Elom said.

The Vice-Chancelloer stated that the university management has constituted a committee on dress code, saying any violation would attract N10,000 fine.

Elom added that the matriculation marks the beginning of a new phase in their lives.

He said: “What you will end up with and how you will end up depends on how serious you take your academic activities.

“Do your assignments promptly, do not be distracted by the so-called side attractions on and off the campus, keep your eyes strictly on the ball.”

One of the students, Chukwu Igwe, said he was delighted to be one of the students admitted into the university.

Igwe pledged to be a good student and urged his colleagues to abide by the university’s rules and regulations.
