The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has concluded investigations into 16 officers arrested over acts of indiscipline and violations of service regulations, with some set to face court-martial.
The Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja, recalling that the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) announced the arrests in October 2025.
According to him, the investigations, conducted in line with military procedures and regulations, found that a number of the officers had cases to answer, including allegations linked to plotting to overthrow the government.
Uba said such conduct contravenes the ethics, values and professional standards of the Armed Forces.
He added that the affected officers would be formally arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other service regulations.
The military stressed that the action is strictly disciplinary, aimed at preserving discipline, cohesion and operational effectiveness within the ranks, while assuring the public that due process and fairness would be upheld throughout the trials.
