The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed Anambra State on Saturday, November 8, 2025, following reports of vote buying in the poll.
EFCC officers were seen at Community Primary School, Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, to observe the process and ensure no vote buying.
A viral video showed a woman at Central School Utuh, being accompanied by a party agent to the voting cubicle in a covert move, against election rules.
The party agency was heard saying “Ego ole?” which translates to “how much?”
Anambra guber: Election observers decry vote buying, poor security
Election officials thereafter approached the agent, accusing him of trespassing.
“She is the one who asked me to accompany her to show her, and I have every right to follow her,” the agent said.
An election observer from the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room, Dimma Nwobi, had decried the alleged vote buying and poor security in the gubernatorial election.
“They are actually buying votes, negotiating. It is sad,” Nwobi told newsmen at Nnewi on Saturday.
