Anglican Diocese donates hospital items to LASUTH

The Anglican Diocese of Lagos West has donated some hospital consumables and equipment to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital ((LASUTH) and the Federal Medical Centre in the Ebutte-Metta area of the state.

Speaking while making the donation at LASUTH on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the delegation’s first port of call, Dr Olutoyin Okeowo, who represented the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Revd. Olusola Odedeji, said it was in furtherance of the Diocese’s resolve to support the hospital’s delivery of healthcare to residents of the state and beyond, and the state’s healthcare policy.

Okeowo enjoined the tertiary health institutions to use the facilities for patients free of charge.

Tracing the long history of the relationship between the hospital and the Diocese, Okeowo said planting a chapel within the premises of the hospital was informed by the realisation that caring for the body must be complemented by care for the soul.

He announced that the Diocese would soon ensure comprehensive medical check-ups for all the clergymen, as well as institute medical insurance for them and their households.

While receiving the church delegation comprising most of the 30 administrators of the archdeaconries and members of the 25th anniversary of the Diocese, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Professor Adetokunbo Fabanwo, expressed gratitude to the church for remembering the patients in its celebration.

He stated that the hospital has been going out to solicit support from society in its bid to keep its status as a leading healthcare giver in the country.

Some of the facilities being constructed by donors include a four-storey eye clinic, a single-cell theatre and a 150-bed multipurpose building.

The Rotary Club is also putting up a quarter where relatives of patients could put up for the night, stating that “the hospital’s future looks bright indeed”.
