APC appoints Dalori as acting national chairman following Ganduje’s resignation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori as its new Acting National Chairman, following the resignation of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Ganduje stepped down on Friday amid mounting pressure from party stakeholders, particularly from the North Central region, who have consistently demanded that the chairmanship return to their zone.

According to sources, Ganduje’s resignation was largely influenced by his mishandling of the recent FCT Area Council primaries.

Ganduje, who took office in August 2023 after the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu, has since struggled to unify the party.

His exit is seen as a strategic move by the APC to regain internal stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In the interim, the party plans to allow one of its current national vice chairmen to serve as acting chairman until a substantive leader is elected at the party’s national convention in December.
