The Presidency has said the recently released All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council list will only be adjusted to accommodate additional members, dismissing reports that the list had been withdrawn.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made this clarification on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television.

Dare said the list would be expanded through the creation of various subcommittees, stressing that there was no plan for a wholesale review of the appointments.

“As it is with every other list, there’s a room for subcommittees. Those subcommittees have not been formed, and so many other names will come into that subcommittee,” he said.

The clarification followed reports that some APC members and stakeholders had complained about their exclusion from the campaign council after the list was released.

The list was announced on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Under the arrangement, President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima will serve as chairman and vice-chairman of the campaign council, respectively.

APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, was named deputy chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, will serve as Director-General.

Governor Hope Uzodimma was named Secretary, with APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman serving as Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively.

Dare said the forthcoming subcommittees would provide room for more party members and stakeholders to be included in the campaign structure.

He therefore maintained that the campaign council list had not been withdrawn, but would be subjected to necessary adjustments as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
