APC chairman visits Angwan Rukuba attack victims, donates N15m

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on Saturday visited victims of the deadly attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, who are currently receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), donating the sum of N15 million to support their recovery.

Prof. Yilwatda was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Dr. Martina Yilwatda, in a show of solidarity with the victims, their families, and the people of Plateau State.

Describing the attack as barbaric, painful, and unacceptable, the APC chairman called on all stakeholders to move beyond routine condemnation and work collectively to prevent a recurrence of such violence.

“The pain of the victims and their families is a burden that must be shared by all men and women of conscience,” he said, adding that no society can make meaningful progress where innocent citizens continue to live in fear and uncertainty.

Prof. Yilwatda reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restoring peace and strengthening security operations across the country, vowing that no stone would be left unturned in protecting Nigerian lives.

He described the Angwan Rukuba tragedy as a wake-up call to leaders, security institutions, and political actors to rise above division and confront the forces of violence threatening stability in Plateau State.

The N15 million donation, he stated, was aimed at easing the immediate burden of medical care and providing relief to victims going through physical pain, emotional trauma, and financial hardship.

The APC chairman also paid a condolence visit to the Paramount Ruler of Jos North Local Government Area, the Ujah Anaguta, commiserating with him over the attack on the Angwan Rukuba community within his domain.

He equally commended the management and medical personnel of JUTH for their prompt response and professionalism in attending to the victims.

Prof. Yilwatda urged political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and civil society organisations to close ranks and reject every form of hatred, division, and provocation capable of threatening the peace of Plateau State.

“Plateau, with its rich diversity, history, and strategic importance, must not be allowed to descend into repeated circles of bloodshed, grief, and instability,” he said.

He maintained that the killing of innocent citizens must stop and that perpetrators must face justice, as the APC and the Federal Government remain united in ensuring that peace returns fully and permanently to Plateau State.
