Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has confirmed that Governor Agbu Kefas will formally join the party in January 2026, following a previous postponement.
The defection, originally scheduled for November 19, was delayed in response to the recent student kidnappings in Kebbi State.
Ibrahim Tukur, Taraba APC chairman, made the announcement at a press conference in Jalingo, the state capital.
Tukur also addressed internal party discipline, stating that some ward executives had been suspended for violating the party constitution.
He urged all aggrieved members to exhaust internal dispute resolution mechanisms before approaching the courts.
Additionally, the chairman announced the reversal of the suspension of Taraba Assembly member Abel Peter of Mbamga Constituency, who had been suspended by his ward executives over alleged anti-party activities.
Reacting to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s claims of taking over Taraba State, Tukur dismissed the statement as unrealistic, asserting that the APC has firmly established control of the state government and will not relent.
