APC fixes national convention for March 2026

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled its national convention for March 2026 as part of a wide-ranging programme of congresses at all levels of the party.

The party disclosed this on Saturday in a detailed timetable outlining activities for its 2025/2026 ward, local government, state and zonal congresses, which will culminate in the national convention. The timetable was signed by the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.

According to the party, the exercises are being carried out in line with Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution and are aimed at electing party officials across the ward, local government, state, zonal and national levels.

The schedule indicates that the process will begin with the commencement of membership e-registration from December 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026. Notices of congresses will then be issued to state chapters and the Federal Capital Territory on February 2, 2026.

Purchase and submission of forms for ward and local government congresses are slated for February 4 to February 9, 2026, while screening committees for aspirants will be inaugurated on February 10. Screening of ward and LGA aspirants will hold between February 11 and February 13.

Ward congresses are scheduled for February 18, 2026, with appeals to be heard the following day, February 19. Local government congresses, which will also elect three delegates—at least one of whom must be a woman—to the national convention, will take place on February 20, with appeals fixed for February 21.

At the state level, the sale of forms for state executive positions will run from February 23 to February 27, 2026. Screening and appeals will take place in late February and early March, while state congresses are scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026. Appeals from the state congresses will be considered between March 9 and March 11.

Zonal activities will commence with the purchase and submission of forms for zonal congresses and the national convention from March 12 to March 17, 2026. Zonal congress committees will be inaugurated on March 18, followed by screening of aspirants on March 19 and 20.

Zonal congresses across the six geopolitical zones are fixed for Saturday, March 21, 2026, with appeals slated for March 23. The designated venues include Ibadan for the South-West, Enugu for the South-East, Rivers/Cross River for the South-South, Kaduna for the North-West, Gombe/Bauchi for the North-East, and Nasarawa for the North-Central.

The timetable shows that the APC national convention will hold from Wednesday, March 25, to Saturday, March 28, 2026.
