The All Progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled Saturday, August 22, 2026, for its primaries to select candidates for four restored State House of Assembly constituencies and legislative bye-elections across five states.
The party announced the timetable in a statement signed by its National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and released on Wednesday.
The primaries will cover three restored constituencies in Delta State — Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II — and Yagba West II in Kogi State.
The APC timetable also covers legislative bye-elections in Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
The affected seats are Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi; Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano.
The party said the timetable followed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s decision to restore four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states.
Under the schedule, the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms will run from Tuesday, August 18, to Thursday, August 20. Completed forms and supporting documents must also be submitted by August 20.
Screening of aspirants, publication of screening results and screening appeals are scheduled for Friday, August 21, ahead of the primaries the following day.
Election appeals will be heard on Monday, August 24.
The APC fixed the expression of interest fee for State House of Assembly aspirants at N1 million, while the nomination fee is N5 million, bringing the total to N6 million.
For House of Representatives aspirants, the expression of interest fee is N1 million and the nomination fee is N9 million, totalling N10 million.
The party said female, youth and physically challenged aspirants would pay the full expression of interest fee but only 50 per cent of the prescribed nomination fee.
It directed all aspirants to make payments directly into designated APC bank accounts.
The restoration of the four suppressed constituencies followed court judgments and INEC’s subsequent decision to reinstate them, after residents had been left without direct representation in their respective state assemblies for years.
The APC timetable also includes the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election, where the seat became vacant following the death of the lawmaker, Tongo Yaya.
