The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for the intervention of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, over the controversial role played by the Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Mike Igini, in the party’s governorship and senatorial primaries in the state.
The APC asked the SGF to convey the concerns of the party to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and security agencies.
The ruling party made the call via a petition issued by the APC National Secretary, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, and addressed to the SGF.
The petition obtained by The Star on Monday was dated July 1, 2022.
It read: “We wish to bring to your attention the contemptuous conduct and activists and activities perpetrated against our party by Mr Mike Igini, (Resident Electoral Commissioner in Akwa Ibom State), which have been highlighted in the petition attached herewith in relation to the above subject.
