APC speaks on fielding non-indigene in Ekiti Reps primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti has dismissed claims that a non-indigene emerged as the party’s candidate in its House of Representatives primary election in the state.

The APC Publicity Secretary in Ekiti State, Segun Dipe, made the clarification in a statement issued on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Dipe described the reports as false, misleading, and capable of inciting unnecessary ethnic tension in the state.

Dipe stated that no person of any other ethnic origin contested or won the party’s primary election in any of the six federal constituencies in Ekiti State.

The Ekiti APC spokesman stressed that all aspirants who emerged as candidates for the 2027 general election are indigenes of the state and reside within their respective constituencies.

NDC delegates set to affirm Obi as presidential candidate today

“The APC, Ekiti State chapter, did not announce any candidate named Zaccheus Okoro for any federal constituency, as is being falsely circulated in some quarters,” he stated.

Dipe added that political representation in the state has consistently remained issue-based, with a focus on development rather than ethnic considerations.

Dipe urged the public to disregard the reports, describing them as propaganda aimed at undermining confidence in the party’s primary election process.
