Arafat: Kaduna pilgrims pray for peace, end to insecurity in Nigeria

Pilgrims from Kaduna State have offered special prayers for peace, unity, and an end to insecurity in Nigeria during the Day of Arafat in Saudi Arabia.

The prayers, held on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah—one of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar—focused on national stability, leadership, and the wellbeing of citizens.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, pilgrims were urged to use the sacred occasion to seek divine intervention for their families and the country.

Islamic scholar Sheikh Haliru Maraya emphasised the power of prayer in addressing societal challenges, urging faithfuls to pray for leaders rather than curse them, noting that such acts are in line with Islamic teachings.

He encouraged pilgrims to remain steadfast in prayer throughout the day before proceeding to Muzdalifah for the continuation of Hajj rites.

Several clerics, including Sheikh Aliyu Telex and Imam Buhari Mararaban Jos, led the special prayers.

Leader of the Kaduna Hajj delegation, Abubakar Mustapha, commended the state government for ensuring smooth Hajj operations, while officials of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency were also praised for their coordination and support.

The pilgrims’ prayers come amid ongoing security challenges in parts of Nigeria, with calls for unity and collective efforts to restore peace.
