The Nigerian Army has called on residents of Kaduna to remain calm ahead of a scheduled shooting exercise by troops of the 1 Division.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt-Col. Ajemusu Jingina, announced that the division will conduct its first bi-annual range classification exercise for 2026 from March 23 to 27.
The exercise will take place at the Nigerian Air Force Base Shooting Range and is designed to improve the marksmanship of officers and soldiers, as well as evaluate the condition of their weapons.
Residents of the NAF Base, Mando, and surrounding communities were advised not to panic at the sound of gunfire or increased movement of troops and equipment during the period.
The Army also urged the public to steer clear of the shooting range for safety reasons, while expressing appreciation for the continued understanding and cooperation of residents.
