Arsenal’s Frida Maanum collapses at Conti Cup final

Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum collapsed during Sunday’s Conti Cup final against Chelsea.

Maanum was taken off on a stretcher after collapsing off the ball during the match.

She received medical attention on the pitch at Molineux after play was halted in injury time, with the game goalless.

Paramedics were called and medical staff encircled the 24-year-old Norway international, who was placed on a stretcher and carried off after several minutes of treatment.

Arsenal: Arteta didn’t insult Porto coach’s family

Arsenal posted an update on Maanum’s condition on X, saying: “Frida is conscious, talking and in a stable condition.

“She will continue to be monitored closely by our medical team.

“We’re all with you, Frida ❤️”

Meanwhile, Stina Blackstenius scored late in extra-time as Arsenal defeated Chelsea 1-0 to win the Conti Cup for a second successive year.

Arsenal were able to overcome Maanum’s collapse and struck in the 116th minute after Blackstenius bundled the ball home, having missed a good chance earlier in extra-time.

Chelsea could not keep up with Arsenal, who beat them 3-1 in last season’s final, in what was their eighth game in March and the defeat ended their chances of winning the quadruple in Emma Hayes’ final season in charge.
