ASCSN suspends Unity Colleges strike, orders immediate resumption

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has suspended its strike in Federal Unity Colleges nationwide and directed members to resume duty immediately.

‎The decision was reached during a meeting between the leadership of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), ASCSN, and zonal coordinators of Federal Unity Schools to review the ongoing industrial action in Abuja on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

‎The ASCSN, in a notice signed by its Secretary-General, Joshua Apebo, said the meeting was held to deliberate on the concession agreement involving the Federal Ministry of Education and Kings College Old Boys Association (KCOBA).

‎Apebo said the meeting considered the communiqué earlier signed by TUC, ASCSN and the FME on the proposed concession arrangement affecting Federal Unity Colleges.

‎Apebo stated that the concession of Kings College in Lagos State has been suspended pending a review of the concession document by a seven-member high-level committee.

‎He said two of its representatives were members of the committee reviewing the concession document.

“In view of the above, the ongoing strike at the Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria is hereby suspended,” he noted.

‎Apebo directed ASCSN members in all Unity Schools to return to their respective schools while awaiting the report of the committee and further directives from the national leadership.

‎Apebo, however, warned that the suspension did not amount to a permanent end to the industrial action.

“Please, note that the strike is suspended and can be resumed at any time without notice,” he said.
