Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday led a high-powered delegation of political associates to Ibadan on a congratulatory visit to the newly installed Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Royal Highness, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa I.
The delegation included former PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu; former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke; former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai; former Minister of Police Affairs, Mallam Adamu Maina Waziri; and Mallam Kashim Imam.
Atiku, in a statement posted on his social media handles, described Oba Ladoja as a longstanding associate with whom he had shared decades of public service.
He expressed delight that the monarch warmly received the delegation and recalled personal moments with each member of the team.
The former Vice President noted that although he was unable to attend the coronation ceremony due to protocol logistics, he was honoured to pay homage to the new Olubadan.
“I am proud that Kabiyesi has ascended the throne of his forebears.
“It is my prayer that his reign brings peace, prosperity, and growth to Ibadanland,” Atiku said.
He commended Oba Ladoja’s assurance to uphold justice and serve the people of Ibadan across religious and political divides, while also appreciating the warm reception given to his delegation by residents at the city gate.
Oba Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, was recently crowned in a colourful ceremony attended by dignitaries from across Nigeria.
