Attempted kidnapping triggers fatal accident in Kogi

A suspected kidnapping attempt along the Ejule–Olamaboro Road in Kogi State has led to a fatal road accident, claiming the life of one passenger.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, when a Toyota Corolla conveying passengers along the route came under attack by suspected kidnappers.

According to the sources, the assailants opened fire on the vehicle while it was in motion, forcing the driver to lose control and crash into a tree.

A patrol team later rescued three occupants of the vehicle, identified as Obinna Okorokwo, Precious Okorokwo and Ochita Grant.

However, Obinna Okorokwo, who sustained a severe head injury during the crash, was confirmed dead.

His body has been deposited at the Iko Ojo Hospital Mortuary in Okpo.
