Preliminary autopsy findings have ruled out food poisoning as the cause of death of two movie crew members found dead at a film production site in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The deceased were identified as cinematographer Walter Odediran, 36, and his childhood friend, lighting director Godstime Imeh, who also served as Chief Officer of GeeTee Light.
Their lifeless bodies were discovered on February 7, 2026, inside a Nissan vehicle belonging to Imeh, parked within the premises of Evercare Hospital Lekki, where a movie production was ongoing.
Sources familiar with the autopsy said pathologists found no food in Odediran’s stomach, while Imeh had only a small amount, effectively ruling out food poisoning as a likely cause of death.
A source noted that in one case the stomach was empty, while the other contained very little food, suggesting the victims may not have eaten prior to their deaths.
To determine the exact cause, additional toxicology and histology tests on blood and tissue samples are expected to establish whether the victims inhaled or ingested any harmful substances.
Confirming the development, Kola Odediran, the elder brother of Walter Odediran, said the family received the preliminary autopsy report on February 18.
He explained that while the autopsy process had been completed, further laboratory tests would provide definitive answers regarding the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The results of the additional tests are expected within two to three weeks, as relatives continue to hope that the findings will clarify the mystery surrounding the tragic incident.
