Speaking in a phone conversation captured in the clip, the comic actor was heard saying in Yoruba: “I’m out; I just came out.

“I want to relax. I just want to leave here so I decided to inform you. Thank you for supporting me. I will call you.”

Baba Ijesha’s colleague and friend, Yomi Fabiyi, announced his release via a post on Instagram on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Fabiyi revealed that the famous actor regained his freedom on Friday, adding that his colleague was released after a Court of Appeal overturned his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor.

Sexual assault: Baba Ijesha appeals conviction

He wrote: “You are now officially free and out. Baba Ijesha is not just back but better.

“I am also happy you were cleared by the Appeal Court of ever having sex/defile any child/minor. The 7-year-old story is a charade. We live in a terrible world, where sentiments and wickedness rise above the rule of law and truth.”

It would be recalled a High Court in Lagos, on July 14, 2022, sentenced Baba Ijesha to 16 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor.

The actor’s 16-year jail term was expected to run concurrently, meaning that the actor spent five years behind bars.

In April 2024, Baba Ijesha challenged his jail term, arguing that he was set up and was merely “acting according to a script” provided by a colleague.
