Security forces have launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to free a road construction worker abducted by gunmen in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The incident occurred around 7:14 p.m. on Thursday along the Kunduru–Kadanya feeder road, when armed assailants reportedly ambushed and kidnapped a 35-year-old driver, Kabiru Bature, employed by Stantech Road Construction Company.
According to sources, troops were immediately mobilised to the area to block possible escape routes and conduct a cordon-and-search mission aimed at rescuing the victim and apprehending the attackers.
Security operatives are currently tracking the movements of the kidnappers, who are believed to have retreated into nearby forest areas.
Efforts were still ongoing as of the time of filing this report to ensure the safe rescue of the victim and the arrest of those responsible.
