Armed bandits have demanded a ransom of ₦200 million for the release of Basherah Ojedeyi, a graduate of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), who was abducted in Niger State on September 29.
Ojedeyi, who had just been inducted into the radiography profession on September 24, was reportedly travelling to Osogbo, Osun State, when she was kidnapped.
Family members said her last contact was around 2 p.m. on Monday, when she informed them that her vehicle had broken down in Mokwa, Niger State.
Shortly after the car was repaired, she went missing, and her abductors later reached out to demand ₦200 million.
A student close to the victim, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the family is currently in negotiations with the kidnappers as they struggle to raise funds.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Niger State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to its spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, went unanswered at the time of filing this report.
