Bandits kidnap 87 Kaduna residents

Bandits have again abducted no fewer than 87 residents of Kajuru community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the bandits also looted some shops and houses in the community during an attack which occurred at about 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

This comes barely 24 hours after 14 people were kidnapped by bandits at Dogon Noma community also in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna.

The incident was confirmed by the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Ibrahim Gajere, who lamented that the constant attacks on Kajuru have left many residents in fear and panic.

The Star had earlier reported that bandits abducted no fewer than 14 residents of Dogon Noma during an attack on the community on Saturday, March 16.

The Kaduna State Police Command has however yet to speak on the incident as of press time.

Again, bandits kidnap 14 in Kaduna

The gunmen recently killed one person and abducted eight others in an attack on the Banono Angwaku community in Kajuru LGA.

The bandits equally abducted 61 residents of Buda community, also in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State.

It would be recalled that gunmen suspected to be bandits, on March 7, also kidnapped 286 students of Government Secondary School (GSS) Kuriga in Gwagwada District, Chikun LGA of the state.

The bandits later demanded N1 billion for the release of the kidnapped students and vowed to kill the victims if the ransom demand was not met in 20 days, effective from the date of the abduction (March 7).

Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas had in recent two weeks become the hotbed of kidnapping, causing tension in Kaduna State.
