Armed bandits have abducted five nursing mothers and rustled 50 cows in Yan Kwada village, Faruruwa, Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, despite the presence of military personnel in the area.
The attackers, who stormed the community on motorcycles at around 9 p.m. on Sunday, went house to house, seizing women and livestock.
Witnesses said the bandits threw away infants as they snatched their mothers, leaving the babies crying through the night.
Chairman of the Faruruwa Community Security Forum, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, confirmed the incident, describing it as one of many brazen attacks in recent weeks.
He said one of the kidnapped women managed to escape, but four others remain in captivity.
Bagobiri expressed frustration that the assaults persist despite heavy security deployment.
“We have military men here, yet the attacks continue almost daily.
“We alerted security forces before Sunday’s raid, but no action was taken,” he said.
He urged President Bola Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to intervene immediately, warning that Yan Kwada risks becoming a ghost community if the insecurity continues unchecked.
