Suspected armed bandits have attacked a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) outpost at Ibrahim Leteh Village along the Wawa–Luma Road in Niger State, carting away a service rifle.
The attack occurred in the early hours of December 22 at about 4:30 a.m., when a large number of assailants stormed the nipping point and opened fire, security sources said.
During the incident, two NSCDC personnel on duty reportedly took cover as the attackers sprayed bullets on the patrol vehicle and the mini office at the outpost.
One G3 rifle assigned to an NSCDC officer was stolen by the assailants.
No casualties were recorded in the attack.
The area was later visited by security operatives, who documented the scene and commenced investigations.
Authorities said efforts are underway to recover the stolen weapon and arrest those responsible, while security presence in the area has been reinforced to prevent further attacks.
