Bandits storm church during night vigil, kidnap 9 worshippers in Benue

Suspected bandits have abducted nine worshippers at Ojije in Utonkon, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edet Udeme, confirmed the incident on Monday, February 9, 2026.

Udeme disclosed that the victims were abducted during a night vigil at St. John’s Catholic Church.

Bandits kill three, abduct Catholic Priest, 10 others in fresh Kaduna attack

The police spokesperson added that the command has deployed all the tactical teams in Benue State to the area to ensure the worshippers’ safe release.
