A 34-year-old microfinance bank official, Olatunde Olatimehin, has been arraigned before the Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly stealing N569,225 from the bank.
Olatimehin, an official of Baobab Microfinance Bank, Ojo, Lagos State, appeared before Magistrate L.J.K Layeni on Monday.
The defendant was arraigned on a two-count charge of stealing and causing breach of peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Dr Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 2, 2023, at the bank’s premises.
He alleged that Olatimehin stole the money paid by customers to the bank, adding that the defendant received it through his personal account.
The prosecutor said that the defendant’s conduct also caused a breach of peace at the bank.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 168 (d) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Layeni, therefore, adjourned the case until March 6, 2023, for trial.
