Barber stabs man to death in Jigawa

A 29-year-old barber has been arrested in Jigawa State for allegedly stabbing a 32-year-old man to death during an argument in Dutse Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Olatonok, allegedly stabbed Ibrahim Shago in the neck with a knife on Thursday, October 29, at about 5:45 p.m. in the Rafin Sanyi area.

The Jigawa State Police Command said the suspect worked at Moonlight Hotel, where the incident reportedly occurred.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol during the disagreement.

Shago, a resident of Karnaya town, was rushed to a hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead by a doctor.

Following the incident, some youths reportedly gathered at the scene and attempted to vandalise the hotel.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijjani Murtala, condemned the use of violence to settle disputes and urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding.

He also cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their hands, advising them to report grievances to the appropriate authorities for resolution.
