Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to peace, unity, and inclusive development, stressing that the state’s progress must rise above political affiliations.
Speaking on recent developments in the state, Governor Diri said Bayelsa’s collective aspirations should take precedence over political considerations, as development serves every citizen regardless of party lines.
“Bayelsa’s development is our common goal,” the governor stated.
“Infrastructural and human progress do not recognize political parties.
“The growth of Bayelsa is a shared responsibility.
“We are one united Ijaw people.”
Diri, who has consistently championed inclusive governance, noted that his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, health, and youth empowerment are driven by a single purpose — ensuring growth and prosperity for all Bayelsans.
According to him, peace remains the foundation for sustainable progress.
“When a state is united, development thrives,” he said.
“The roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals being built are for everyone, not for one political group.”
He emphasized that politics is temporary, but Bayelsa’s destiny is collective.
Diri urged citizens to resist divisive tendencies and embrace the ongoing “buffet of prosperity” that his government is delivering across the state.
Highlighting the calm and stability witnessed in recent years, especially among the youth, the governor attributed it to his administration’s focus on productive initiatives such as skill acquisition and entrepreneurship programs.
Governor Diri also appealed to political leaders, community heads, and stakeholders to place the state’s interest above partisan differences, noting that unity remains central to the Ijaw nation’s strength.
“Development has no political colour,” he said.
“The roads don’t ask if you’re PDP, APC, or
LP before you drive on them. Our only party is Bayelsa; our only symbol is the Ijaw identity. Together, we must move forward.
“Our diversity should be our strength, not our weakness.
“We must build bridges, not walls. Bayelsa is too blessed to be divided by politics.
“What unites us is far greater than what divides us.”
